What is the difference between VPS and VPN? my broker offered VPN not VPS

A VPN is a Virtual Private Network. It allows secure transmission of data between two or more machines connected to it.

A VPS is a Virtual Private Server. It's basically a virtual machine in the cloud that you can remote dektop into.

While both VPN and VPS are frequently used interchangeably, presumably due to their similar acronyms, they are two distinct services.

A virtual private server (VPS) is a virtual machine that an Internet hosting firm sells as a service. The term "virtual dedicated server" has a similar connotation.

A virtual private network (VPN) extends a private network across a public network, allowing users to send and receive data as if their computer equipment were physically linked to the private network.

VPN describes a secure, encrypted tunnel, that ensures the confidentiality of the traffic sent between the two ends of that tunnel. So, if you initiate a VPN session on your computer, through a VPN application, you have sought to encrypt the communications and therefore you have taken steps to keep away prying eyes from whatever it is you are sending in that communication tunnel.
