What is mean by Grid & martingle stretegy

I saw lot off EA developer mention about their EA is based on GRID Or Matingle Stretegy. Does any one know about this stretegy ?
 
Essentially if the trade is in negative equity (this can be if it’s still active or has been closed) then subsequent trades after this will be opened or added to to make up the nagative delta. Quite often, LOTS are doubled each trade until it’s a winner.
