It is not enough to know the major news releases. You have to know where to anticipate the effects of the news.

Forex contains eight major currencies.

  1. Australian dollar (AUD)
  2. British pound (GBP)
  3. Canadian dollar (CAD)
  4. Euro (EUR)
  5. Japanese Yen (JPY)
  6. New Zealand dollar (NZD)
  7. Swiss franc (CHF)
  8. US dollar (USD)
These major currencies combine to form highly liquid currency pairs. Because of their liquidity, they are very sensitive to important news releases. So, you could trade the news on any of the currency pairs involving the major currencies in forex. However, some of the most liquid of them are:

  1. AUDUSD
  2. CHFJPY
  3. EURUSD
  4. EURCHF
  5. GBPJPY
  6. USDJPY

If you wanbt to scalp on news, you can choose volatile trading pairs like XAUUSD, GBPJPY and CADJPY etc. So, before entering forex, build your mentality first.

I think that you need to take a balanced and careful approach to choosing a pair for trading. Especially if we are talking about trading on the news. For example, a pair like XAUUSD is highly volatile even without news publications and trading on it can lead to both good profits and impressive losses. At the same time, the spread on it is also large compared to EURUSD, for which my broker has a spread of only 0.1-0.2. Therefore, I prefer to trade pairs with moderate volatility and minimal spreads so as not to risk my deposit too much.
