For profit, of course. Everyone trades for the profit. Obviously, there are some additional perks - it's a good mental challenge, it's exciting, at least sometimes - that is, when it's not stressful - but the main motivation is always money.
I firmly believe that EAs are for experienced traders, not newbies. To use an EA you need to understand how it works,, and how can a newbie do that when they can't even trade manually.

That is a good way of putting, I agree. Some people are better suited to trade, but that does not mean that the rest cannot learn if they put their minds to it.
Personally, I think EUR/USD can be quite volatile, as well as prone to long periods of range - something which is happening right now, actually - which is why I think one should be careful with it.
I think that may be a bit of an exaggeration - there are plenty of successful traders who do make a living off their trading. They are a pretty small percentage compared to the overall amount of traders, but I wouldn't say it's a miracle.
